A great day with nature collecting honey
We recently had a family gathering to collect honey from my Dad's Beehives. Fun and education for all ages.
Honey collection involves removing the frames from the hive. They are then taken away from the hives so the bees don't attack in an attempt to reclaim the honey. These frames then have to be uncapped which means removing the wax the bees have sealed the honey filled cells with.
Then the uncapped frames are spun gently in a honey extractor to separate the honey from the beeswax. The honey is then filtered and jarred.
The remaining beeswax and lovely stickiness was then placed back by the hives for the bees - or any other lucky wildlife - to reclaim.
